(PHOTOS) Billy Porter, Janet Mock, Mj Rodriguez, Jeremy Pope and Cast of ‘Pose’ Serve Edgy Looks at Season 3 Premiere in New York

The cast of “Pose” brought down the house in New York at the red carpet premiere of the third and final season of the groundbreaking FX drama.

Held indoors at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the socially-distanced event was one of the first major in-person premieres this year in New York.

Among the “Pose” stars in attendance included Mj Rodriguez, Billy Porter, Dominique Jackson, Indya Moore, Jeremy Pope, Hailie Sahar, Dyllón Burnside, Angel Bismark Curiel, Sandra Bernhard, Jason Rodriguez and Angelica Ross.

Also in attendance was series co-creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals, and executive producer and director Janet Mock, who made headlines for the candid speech she made at the event.

Fans of the critically acclaimed “Pose”, which follows a diverse group of LGBTQ outscasts who find power, acceptance and family in the ballroom culture of the ’80s and ’90s in New York City, were disappointed when it was announced that this would its final season. The groundbreaking period drama also opened so many doors for trans actors, creative talent and crew.

“The legacy of ‘Pose’ simply is exuberant lives finally getting their chance and stapling it in the industry and in the realm of acting and making sure there’s more space open,” Rodriguez told Variety. “I never thought in a million years a girl like me from Newark, N.J. who had it hard, who didn’t get her chance out there to finally get it and to solidify it with a great season. That’s what it means.”

In what may serve as a model for other red carpet events in New York, the screening was limited to 100 guests inside the theater (at 10% capacity), according to Variety. Participants were required to have a COVID test in the days leading up to the premiere and a temperature check upon arrival at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Season 3 of “Pose” premieres May 2 on FX.
