Actor Michael B. Jordan and his celebrity friends recently came together to raise awareness and funds for research for curing lupus, an autoimmune disease that affects 1.5 million people in the U.S.

Held at Dave & Busters in Hollywood, the third annual MBJAM connected celebrities, athletes and advocates with children and adults impacted by the disease.

The event was hosted by Nick Cannon, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2012 and has worked with Jordan to build a community and foster an understanding about Lupus.

Jordan has a personal connection with the cause as his mother, Donna Jordan, suffers from lupus. He started the MBJAM as a way to give back to Lupus La, which helped his family with resources years ago.

Started in 2017, MBJAM has since raised thousands of dollars for Lupus LA, which overall has raised about $13 million since the organization’s inception.

Also in attendance at MBJAM was Grammy Award-winning singer Toni Braxton, who has battled the disease for years and has raised national awareness. Braxton, who is also an ambassador for Lupus LA, recently narrated the organization’s #YourStoryOurFight campaign.

At the event, Braxton joined Cannon and Jordan in presenting the inaugural Jordan Family Kindred Hearts Award to lupus survivor Ashley Ramirez and her family.

All the lupus patients and their families were able attend for free thanks to partnerships with American Airlines, Coach, GSK and Warner Bros.

It was fun day, with attendees playing games, enjoy food, and mingling and taking selfies with the celebs at the event, including Jamie Foxx, Omari Hardwick, Kyrie Irving, Storm Reid, Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi, Calum Worthy and Miles Brown.
