Nas Returns Strong with “Life Is Good”
It’s been more than four years since rapper Nas blessed fans with his social conscious storylines and smooth lyrics. Since 2008’s “Untitled,” he’s been through a bitter divorce with singer Kelis, and has watched a hip-hop takeover by the Young Money crew, led by Lil Wayne and Drake.
Now, the 38-year rapper is back with his 10th studio album Life Is Good, and he’s not pulling any punches in his lyrics. On “Bye Baby,” Nas talks directly to his ex-wife, Kelis, about the trials and tribulations of their relationship. He also opens up about his Destiny Jones and her recent plunge into the public eye. And in grand Nas style, he masterfully discusses life’s struggles throughout the album, which is poised to enter the billboard charts in the number one spot this week.
To roll out the album, Nas has been on a nationwide media tour and promotional tour, which has included a stop on Comedy Central’s “Stephen Colbert Show” and an A-list album release party attended by Beyonce and Jay-Z, among others.
His promotional tour also included a jammed packed performance at New York’s Tammany Hall, where he rocked the crowd with a collection of his old and new hits. Looks like “nasty” Nas is back for good.
