Pharrell Williams, G-Star Raw Celebrate Fifth Ave. Store Opening

Music artist, producer, mogul and fashion icon Pharrell Williams made his way around New York yesterday in style – on a bicycle – as he celebrated the opening of a G-Star Raw store on Fifth Ave., a brand for which he is co-owner.

In addition to the grand opening, G-Star, a Dutch denim label, also held parties at its locations in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and its SoHo location, where Pharrell was joined by 21-year-old Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$.

In February, Pharrell was announced as co-owner of the G-Star brand following two years of collaboration between the label and Pharrell’s company, Bionic Yarn on RAW for the Oceans, which transforms recycled ocean plastic into denim.

As co-owner, Pharrell will be involved in the company on many creative levels, including its collections, advertising and business strategy.z

Essentially, Bionic Yarn will transform plastic in the ocean into yarn that will be used to create G-Star’s RAW for the Ocean collection of jeans and shirts for men and women
