A$AP Ferg Celebrates Second Adidas ‘Trap Lord’ Collection with Skate Jam in LA (EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS/VIDEO)

Harlem rapper A$AP Ferg recently marked the release of his second adidas Skateboarding x Trap Lord collaboration with a classic skate jam in LA that featured an electric performance from Ferg, as well as several activities for skateboarding enthusiasts.

The Trap Lord launch party, held in an open skate arena in Los Angeles’ Arts District, celebrated A$AP Ferg’s latest collaboration with Adidas. The collection, released Sept. 1 online and in stores, features the A$AP Ferg x Adidas Matchcourt sneakers and matching apparel, including a windbreaker jacket, fleece pants, a jersey, t-shirt and hat.

When he took the stage, Ferg was very appreciative of the opportunity to partner with Adidas on the collaboration. “I’ve been wearing Adidas my whole life,” Ferg said during his performance set. “This is a dream come true.”

Local skate shops were invited to the event, which featured skating competitions and cash prizes. Adidas Skateboarding’s Pro team riders were on hand to demonstrate tricks on various obstacles. In addition to skateboarding, attendees were provided with food, drinks and giveaways, which included free A$AP Ferg Matchcourt sneakers for some.

Adidas Skateboarding first collaborated with A$AP Ferg in 2015 on a successful collection that was designed to bridge the gap between skate culture and hip-hop. This new partnership features similar goals with a fresh approach to footwear and apparel.

The new Trap Lord collaboration employs a mix-matched clothing style that is popular in New York City and other cities — driven by the fact that kids often swap clothing of non-matching colors to be able to wear something new.

Ferg draws from such experiences in the design of this collection. For example, the collection’s Matchcourt sneakers feature white full-grain leather, with contrasting Red Three Stripes branding, Gold foil branding, custom tongue branding and a custom set of laces.

To coincide with the Trap Lord launch, Adidas Skateboarding presented the official trailer for Ferg’s “Nandos” video, which is the debut song from his third studio album, Still Striving. The Trap Lord collection is on display throughout the visual.

Ferg has been busy, with the launch of the Trap Lord collection coming on the heels of the release of A$AP Mob’s Cozy Tapes Vol. 2 mixtape. Ferg performed several of his verses from that mixtape, as well as songs from A$AP Mob’s earlier works, as well as the crowd’s favorite song from his first two studio albums, 2013’s “Trap Lord” and 2016’s “Always Strive and Prosper.”
