A$AP Ferg Honors Late A$AP Yams at Art Basel
Harlem rapper A$AP Ferg of the A$AP Mob recently honored the Mob’s founder, A$AP Yams, at this year’s Art Basel showcase in Miami by curating a photo exhibit featuring images of the group’s early days. Yams died in January of an accidental drug overdose.
For the exhibit, Ferg teamed up with sportswear company Adidas and famed photographer Brock Fetch to select the photos. Ferg also presented a painting of Yams he created.
“It’s [art] always been a form of expression for me.,” Ferg said in a recent interview. “I’m giving the painting I did of Yams to his mom. The painting is broken down into pieces and all of the different pieces that make up the painting, is inside the shoe on the sole. So everybody has a different part of the painting inside their shoe. ”
The exhibit also served as the launch of Ferg’s “Trapload” capsule collection with Adidas Skateboarding. The collection includes footwear and apparel, and is available in select adidas Skateboarding accounts now.
