Atlanta Mayoral Candidate, Michael T. Sterling, Makes His Pitch to Supporters in LA
Atlanta lawyer and rising politician Michael T. Sterling recently held an intimate listening session in Los Angeles to drum up support among Atlanta natives living in LA and other potential backers for his campaign to become Atlanta mayor.
Sterling, who has spent time as an advisor to current Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, who is ineligible for re-election due to term limits, is hoping to stand out amongst a crowded field of candidates bidding to become the city’s next mayor.
Sterling, a Morehouse College graduate, was adopted out of an orphanage and raised in Beaumont TX. He would later obtain a law degree and work as a federal prosecutor in Chicago. Sterling, 34, is the currently the Executive Director of the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency.
During the listening session, Sterling answered questions from attendees about his platform, including his plans for Atlanta’s school system.
He also discussed his motivation for getting into the mayor’s race.
“I look at the neighborhoods that people live in and I see hope,” he said. “If we take to the calling of what public service is supposed to be about, we can make a difference in our cities, our neighborhoods, our blocks and communities. “
