Culture Creators Connect College Students with Industry Executives at Inaugural C2 Summit
Culture Creators, which connects established leaders in many fields with new creators of culture, recently held the innovative C2 Summit, which brought together entertainment industry executives with college students.
Held in Washington, D.C., the inaugural C2 Summit featured a series of panels that covered the ins and outs of the music, film, television and sports businesses. About 250 college students were hand-picked to attend the summit, which including several giveaways that provided students with access to high-profile events. Many colleges and universities were represented at the conference, including several HBCUs.
Some of the topics covered by the panel included “The Sound of Culture: Behind The Business of Music,”; “Greenlight: Navigating TV/Film Content and Careers,”; “WME’s Get Your Head in the Game: The Business of Sports & Entertainment,” and “Start It Up: Entrepreneurship in A Digital Age.”
Among the panelists at the summit included Chris Atlas (Warner Records); Marc Byers (Motown Records); Phylicia Fant (Columbia Records);Jeriel Johnson (The Recording Academy);John Gibson (Motion Pictures Academy);Carlos Fleming (WME); Datwon Thomas (Vibe), and NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas.
The C2 Summit comes on the heels of the success of the Culture Creators annual Innovation & Leaders Award Brunch, which was held in June and saw Entertainment Studios CEO Byron Allen accept the Icon Award. The organization said it plans to roll out the C2 Summit to additional cities in 2020.
