“Def Comedy Jam” originally aired on HBO from 1992-1997 and was responsible for launching into the mainstream the careers of many African-American comedians, including Steve Harvey, Bernie Mac, Chris Tucker, Martin Lawrence, Cedric the Entertainer, Mo’Nique and Adele Givens.
