It was 1990 all over again in LA recently for the launch of the PrettyLittleThing x Karl Kani collection, a collaboration between famed streetwear designer Carl Williams and the U.K.-based e-boutique, which is known for its celebrity collaborations.
The brand tapped recording artist, actress and model Teyana Taylor to be the face of the campaign, which pays homage to the street styles popularized by Kani in the 90s. The Karl Kani capsule collection features 45 pieces, including outerwear, cropped-tops, short-shorts and bodysuits, which are embroiled with the famous Karl Kani logo that was worn by such artists as Tupac and Aaliyah.
Held at Nightingale Plaza in West Hollywood, the event brought out a host of celebrities, including Chris Brown, Tyga, Migos, O.T. Genasis, Malika Haqq, Tamar Braxton, Christian “King” Combs, Quincy Brown, Fabolous, Iman Shumpert, Lil Twist, Don Benjamin, LaMelo Ball, Cordell Broadus, Melissa Forde, Christina Milian and Sevyn Streeter.
The event also featured performances of the some of the biggest artists of the 90s, including Snoop Dogg, who performed a medley of his hits, and Mase, who performed several of his hit songs, including “Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems,” which he performed with Christian “King” Combs, who stepped in for his dad, Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The PrettyLittleThing launch party coincided with Williams’ 50th birthday, which he celebrated with a cake and a few remarks about his journey as a designer.
