(VIDEO) Jay-Z Gets Personal and Political on 4:44 Tour in Miami

Jay-Z’s 4:44 Tour recently rolled into Miami, with a sold-out show at American Airlines Arena that was a little more laid back and political than what you would normally expect from a Jay-Z concert.

Nevertheless, it was a more personal show, as Jay-Z spoke on such touchy subjects as marriage infidelity on “4:44” and race on “The Story of O.J.” He also performed “Family Feud” and “Moonlight” from the 4:44 album, which was released in June and is his 13th studio album.

Hov showed his political side when he took a moment to discuss the national anthem protests by professional athletes, saying “I want y’all to understand when people are kneeling and fists up, what they’re doing is not about a flag. It’s about justice, it’s about injustice.”

Jay-Z also performed many fan favorites from throughout his more than 20-year career, including “Lucifer,” “Heart of the City,” and “Run This Town.”

Chicago artist Vic Mensa opened the show for Jay-Z, diving through songs from his latest album “The Autobiography,” in addition to displaying his political side by promoting a petition to restore ex-convicts’ voting rights.
