Kevin Hart Celebrates the Launch of Multicultural ‘Laugh Out Loud’ Comedy Platform in Beverly Hills
Actor/comedian Kevin Hart recently took a big step into entrepreneurship with the launch of Laugh Out Loud, a mobile streaming platform that features original and licensed comedy content.
To celebrate to the launch, Hart and his Laugh Out Loud partner Lionsgate held a star-studded event in the Goldstein Residence in Beverly Hills, which was attended by Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), Snoop Dogg, Chris Paul, Ashley Tisdale, Derek Hough, Lizzo, Estelle, Niecy Nash, Damien Dante Wayans and Brooklyn Beckham.
Hart was also joined at the event by Laugh Out Loud President Jeff Clanagan and Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer, who took the stage to help Hart introduce the service.
“We want to give people one destination for comedy instead of searching all over the internet,” Hart said at the event. “My goal is to make the world laugh. I want this to be a representation of comedy from all new talent whomever you are, wherever you come from.”
Geared toward a multicultural audience, Laugh Out Loud’s content feature stand-up comedy legends as well as stars from today’s digital world, including King Bach, DC Young Fly, Draya Michelle and David So.
Laugh Out Loud will also create both original and scripted series, in addition to stand up specials and live events. The platform will also feature such licensed content as “The PJs” and “Def Comedy Jam.”
The Laugh Out Loud app is available for free on iOS and for Android. For a $2.99 monthly fee, users can watch the content ad-free.
When developing the Laugh Out Loud platform, Hart said he was inspired by Jay-Z’s launch of the Tidal subscription-based music streaming service in 2014.
“The biggest thing that Jay–Z has done in being a businessman is be different. Be bold and go against what people would call the grain,” Hart told Variety. “A lot of people are simply scared to stand out. We’re not, and we won’t be.”
In an effort to woo millennials and Generation Z, who have significantly reduced the time they spend viewing television, the platform is specifically designed for mobile users.
To promote the app and its content, LOL will leverage Hart’s impressive digital and social media presence, which boast over 100 million followers across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
