Pharrell, Lil Wayne, Solange, 21 Savage to Headline 2017 Roots Picnic
The Roots Picnic, the popular annual outdoor music festival in Philadelphia, will once again feature some of the biggest and exciting artists in hip-hop.
This week The Roots announced feature Pharrell, who will serve as a headliner, as well as Lil Wayne, Solange and 21 Savage, who will be a co-headliner. Also on the bill for the 10th annual picnic, includes Pete Rock, PnB Rock and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.
The Roots Picnic will also feature a “live mixtape” with Fat Joe, Mobb Depp and Scott Storch.
Each year, The Root Picnic has steadily grown, expanding its reach with a show in New York’s Bryant Park last year. Past picnics have featured such names as Erykah Badu, The Weekend, Future, Usher, A$AP Rocky, and John Legend.
“It’s amazing that it has grown into such a valued piece of the cultural landscape of our hometown of Philadelphia. We were blessed to expand the Picnic to NYC last year, and the brand will continue to grow and evolve, but Philly will ALWAYS be the home, the birthplace of the Roots Picnic,” said Roots manager Shawn Gee said in a press release. “We are super excited to bring a packed lineup to celebrate our 10th anniversary, and as always there will be plenty of surprises and special guests.”
The Roots Picnic is scheduled to be held Saturday, June 30 at the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia.
