The LA music scene recently received a burst of energy with the launch of Starving Artist Music Showcase, which brought out some of the best up-and-coming and established music artists from across the country.
Held at the Hotel Ziggy in West Hollywood – one of the city’s premiere music venues – the showcase featured a diverse lineup of artists, including television personality, recording artist and model Chanel West Coast; singer/songwriter Apollo Liberace, formerly of Minus Gravity; LA-based singer Cydnee with a C; and singer/songwriter/rapper Tish Hyman.
Chanel West Coast got the crowd hype with her hit song “Lit for Days”, which had the crowd singing along. Chanel performed both new music and some fan-favorites, including “Versace Robe,” in which she was joined on stage by Apollo Liberace to perform a lively rendition.
Apollo Liberace next took the mic, performing “yea, yea, yea” with Chanel West Coast, and then “Love From You,” with Tish Hyman, and showing off his range as both a vocalist and rapper.
After Apollo’s performance, the crowd’s energy was at a maximum level for Tish Hyman’s set. Hyman instantly grabbed the audience’s attention by effortlessly performing her breakthrough song “Subway Art” – showing off the vocals that have drawn comparison to Lauryn Hill. Next, Hyman sang about the ups and downs of striving in “Hollywood” – a song that resonated with actors, musicians and influencers in attendance. Her closing song,”Lucky”, had the crowd singing along and even requesting an encore.
Many recording artists, aspiring musicians, actors, influencers and athletes were in attendance, including Zay Wilson (Netflix “The Ultimatum”); Rico E. Anderson (Star Trek), Nia Dorsey (Basketball Wives); Hunter Matthews (Netflix “Too Hot to Handle); Caesar Christian (Ceasar’s Playhouse Amazon Prime); McKenzi Brooke (TikTok star), Matthew Von Der Ahe (Champions) and more.
