NBA legend Kobe Bryant recently teamed with the all-star cast of the new movie “Just Mercy” for a screening held in LA’s Baldwin Hills neighborhood.
The entire cast of the movie, including Jamie Foxx, Michael B. Jordan and Brie Larson, were on hand for the screening, which was held on multiple theaters for hundreds of attendees.
Bryant, who won an Oscar for producing the 2017 animated short film “Dear Basketball, told the audience why it was important for people to see “Just Mercy.”
“Just Mercy” chronicles the heroic efforts of civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson to free innocent prisoners on death row who may have not received a fair trial through his Equal Justice Initiative organization.
Played by Jordan in the film, Stevenson explained to the audience that he’s hopeful that by seeing the movie people will be more inclined to fight for equal justice.
Also in attendance at the screening were O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Karan Kendrick, who are both in the film, as wells actors Morris Chestnut, Elise Neal and Nathan Pelle.
“Just Mercy” was released on Christmas Day in New York and Los Angeles. The film will be released everywhere for viewing Jan. 10.
