(PHOTOS) Lena Waithe, Martin Lawrence, “Boomerang” Cast and More Attend Season 2 Premiere

Lena Waithe and BET recently kicked off the season 2 premiere of “Boomerang” with a star-studded premiere in LA.

Held at Paramount Studios, the show’s entire cast— Tequan Richmond, Tetona Jackson, Lala Milan, Dime Davis, Leland B. Martin and RJ Walker—were on hand for the event, which debuted the first two episodes of the season.

Martin Lawrence, who starred in the movie for which the series is based, made a surprise appearance at the premiere as well.

Before the screening was shown, Waithe took a moment to thank Lawrence for his contributions to the original film and for his work as a comedian overall. BET President Scott Mills, echoed those sentiments about Lawrence in his remarks, saying the network frequently get requests for a reboot of the iconic sitcom “Martin.”

Among the guests at the event were Terrence J, Cameron Hamilton and Lauren Speed from Netflix’s hit “Love is Blind,” Lance Gross, Kellee Stewart and more.

After the screening, guests moved to a sound stage for the after-party, where they were able to turn up to the deejay, sip cocktails and celebrate the show.

“Boomerang,” with is co-produced by Waithe, Halle Berry and Dime Davis, takes place 25 years after the original movie. The story centers on Simone Graham (daughter of Marcus Graham and Angela Lewis) and Bryson Broyer (son of Jaqueline Broyer), who are marketing professionals trying to step out of their parents’ shadows. The series follows a group of childhood friends who are looking to make their own mark in the world…all while navigating their feelings for each other.

“Boomerang” airs on Wednesdays at 10 on BET.
