(PHOTOS) Metta World Peace Hosts Athletes, Actors and Family at ‘Quiet Storm’ Documentary Premiere
Former NBA player Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest was recently joined by friends, family and several sports figures at the LA premiere of “Quiet Storm: The Ron Artest Story,” a documentary based on his life.
The documentary, which premiered on Showtime last week, provides a comprehensive look at this life – from his days growing in New York’s Queensbridge housing projects, to his successes and battle with mental illness.
Released during Mental Health Awareness Month, the film focuses on the mental of professional atheletes as told through Metta World Peace’s struggles with mental illness. Among the athletes appearing the documentary include Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom, Elton Brand, Jermaine O’Neal and Bill Walton.
The documentary also features commentary from Metta’s Queensbridge childhood friends, including Noreaga from Capone-N- Norega.
Metta World Peace was joined at the LA premiere by boxing great Mike Tyson, Los Angeles Lakers Owner Jeannie Buss, Kristen Scott from VH1’s Basketball Wives, and NBA players Nick Young and Jordan Clarkson.
