Who Decides War has always pushed boundaries with their unique blend of distressed denim and oversized streetwear looks. For their Spring/Summer 2025 collection, designers Everard Best and Téla D’Amore took a leap into the past, drawing inspiration from the Victorian era to craft a collection that marries historical elegance with modern edge.
Held at the historic Hall des Lumières in Lower Manhattan, the Spring/Summer 2025 show transported attendees to the Victorian era, a period known for its profound impact on Western fashion. The collection was a showcase of corsets, linen, lace, and earth tones, intricately designed to evoke the grandeur of the 1800s while retaining the signature cool factor of the Who Decides War brand.
Since its inception in 2018, Who Decides War has become synonymous with distressed denim and oversized streetwear. This season, however, the brand expanded its horizons with its first red carpet-style gowns. These pieces, while new, maintained the brand’s distinctive aesthetic with elements like draping, corsetry, and subtle stained glass window motifs. Highlights included a draped silk Grecian-style dress embellished with pins and a bridal-inspired ballgown with distressed details, blending elegance with the brand’s signature edge.
Collaborations and Craftsmanship
A significant highlight of the show was the debut of Who Decides War’s collaboration with Pelle Pelle. The collection featured custom leather jackets with colorful stitching that reimagined the Founding Fathers as iconic Black leaders like Barack Obama, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Frederick Douglass, and Malcolm X. This collaboration underscored the designers’ expertise in craft and subtle details, proving that their skill set extends well beyond traditional streetwear.
Modern Streetwear Meets High Fashion
The collection’s standout pieces included military-inspired jackets adorned with dangling straps, strapless dresses made entirely of black leather belts, and a wedding gown featuring a structured, distressed denim skirt and a lace du-rag veil with a full-length train. Menswear also saw a transformation, with blazers featuring cut-outs shaped like stained glass window panes and leather pants with unique dye treatments.
Cultural Homage and New Ventures
The show paid homage to the brand’s New York City roots with an original score composed by Bronx native Cash Cobain, accompanied by a student orchestra from the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts. Who Decides War also showcased new sneaker collaborations with Jordan Brand, including the Jordan Flight Court by D’Amore and an exclusive Air Jordan 1 with royal blue paneling and lace details.
Many celebs were in attendance at the show, including YG, NLE Choppa, Devin Haney, Lola Brooke, Jim Jones and more.
