The MTV Movie and TV Awards made a triumphant return this year after pausing in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Only this year, the show returned with a twist and was held in two parts, over two days—one for scripted movies and TV shows and another show for unscripted content, such as reality shows.

Held at the Hollywood Palladium, the scripted portion of the MTV Movie and TV Awards were held on Sunday (May 16) and the unscripted portion of the show was held on Monday (May 17).

This year’s host, Leslie Jones, as usual brought the funny, and Snoop Dogg, who served as the evening’s DJ, kept up the pace and the energy.

Many stars were on hand for the event, including Heidi Klum, Paris Hilton, Yara Shahidi, Ray J and Princess Love, Eric Andre, Winnie Harlow, Jurnee Smollett and Anthony Mackie, who won awards for “Best Hero” and “Best Duo” with Sebastian Stan for “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

Other winners of note included Chadwick Boseman, who won for “Best Performance in a Movie” for “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”; Leslie Jones, who won “Best Comedic Performance” for “Coming 2 America” and Regé-Jean Page, who took home the award for “Best Breakthrough Performance” for his role as the Duke of Hastings in “Bridgerton.”
