(PHOTOS) Sterling K. Brown, Robert Glasper and More Attend J. Period ‘RISE UP’ Release Party in LA

Brooklyn-based DJ/Producer J. Period recently held an intimate party in LA to celebrate the release of his new album “The RISE UP Project,” which features some of today’s most culturally driven artists.

Held at the Blind Dragon in West Hollywood, guests mingled as songs from J. Period’s 10-track album beamed from the speakers. Among the collaborators featured on The RISE UP Project include Andra Day, Black Thought, Aloe Blacc Pharoahe Monch, Xzibit and Posdnuos from De La Soul.

His extensive roster of collaborators, combined with a visionary approach to musical storytelling, has earned J.Period comparisons to both DJ Khaled and Ken Burns. Last year, he was appointed to the inaugural Kennedy Center Hip Hop Culture Council.

Among the guests at The Rise Up release party include Sterling K, Brown, Ryan Michelle Bathe, DJ Khalil and Robert Glasper.
