(PHOTOS/VIDEO) Angela Rye Hosts Screening and Panel Discussion in LA for New BET Docuseries ‘Finding Justice’
BET’s six-city screening tour of its new docu-series “Finding Justice” recently rolled through Los Angeles, where an upcoming episode was shown to local activists, actors, directors, journalists and influencers.
Held at Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood, the screening was followed by panel and Q&A session hosted by political commentator Angela Rye. Panelists included actor/activist Kendrick Sampson, activist Janaya Future Khan of Color of Change and Marshe Noss, a high-school senior and student activist who appeared in the episode shown, which focuses on the “criminalization of kids” through random searches in Los Angeles schools.
“Finding Justice” is a six-part docu-series which aims to expose such injustices in African-American communities across America as voter suppression, the “Stand Your Ground” laws and cash bail.
The series was created by Seven Bucks Productions, which was co-founded by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his ex-wife Dany Garcia, and TV exec David Leepson. “Surviving R.Kelly” producer Dream Hampton is also an Executive Producer of the series.
Among the guests at the screening included John Singleton, Affion Crockett, Dream Hampton, Amina Buddafly and Connie Orlando, Head of Programming for BET.
“Finding Justice” airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on BET through April 14th.
