(PHOTOS/VIDEO) Lee Daniels, Masika Kalysha, Dyan Cannon, Patti Stanger, Warren Moon Show Support for Africa Education Programs at Unstoppable Foundation 10th Anniversary Gala
More than 700 influencers, including global thought-leaders, best-selling authors, renowned speakers, professional athletes, actors and other celebrities recently gathered for the Unstoppable Foundation’s 10th Anniversary Gala, which raised $1.4 million to support education, empowerment and other programs in Africa.
Among the famous guests at the gala included producer/director Lee Daniels, actor John O’Hurley, actress Dyan Cannon, actress/television personality Masika Kalysha, celebrity matchmaker Patti Stanger, singer Janice Freeman, NFL legend Warren Moon and actor Robert Sepulveda Jr.
Held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the Unstoppable Foundation Dinner was an evening awards, musical performances and reflection on the work the organization does in sub-Saharan Africa.
Jane “Mama Jane” Marindany from Emori Joi, Kenya was given the Unstoppable Achievement Award for her efforts to overcome poverty and become a business woman in her community.
Sandy Gallagher, CEO of the Proctor Gallagher Institute, was also honored for her humanitarian work. Her Proctor Gallagher Institute matched donations up to $500,000 to the Unstoppable Foundation.
Launched by Cynthia Kersey, the Unstoppable Foundation provides education, clean water, health care, nutritious food and training for parents to create a sustainable, improved lifestyle for families around the world. The charity has educated 35,000 kids in the past decade in countries including Uganda, Liberia and Kenya.
“We are thrilled to be hosting what will be our biggest gala yet,” said Cynthia Kersey, Unstoppable Foundation Founder and CEO. “It is a truly special evening where, along with our generous donors, will celebrate our collective impact of bringing education and access to life-saving services to more than 75,000 men, women and children in the sub-Saharan African region.”
The evening also featured a performance from Janice Freeman from “The Voice” who sung a powerful rendition of “This is Me” as a group of dancers grace the stage behind her. The Kenyan Boys Choir also performed several songs, including their rendition of Bob Marley’s “One Love”
Since 2008, the Unstoppable Foundation has educated more than 31,500 students, built 119 primary schools and two high schools and has provided life-saving services to more than 75,500 community members through their Sponsor A Village model of sustainability.
