Scooter Braun, Will Packer, Hasan Minhaj Honored in Hollywood by Russell Simmons and Foundation for Ethnic Understanding
Entrepreneur/humanitarian Russell Simmons recently hosted a benefit at his home in West Hollywood in celebration of the 28th anniversary of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding (FFEU), which promotes racial harmony and stronger relationships between ethnic groups, especially among the Muslim, Jewish and Black communities.
This year’s event honored talent manager and businessman Scooter Braun, who received the “Children of Abraham Award”; comedian and actor Hasan Minhaj, who also received the “Children of Abraham Award”; film producer Will Packer, who received the “Racial Harmony Award”; Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee; and Ben Silverman, Chairman and Co-CEO of Propagate Content, who was the evening’s Guest of Honor, receiving the “Joseph Papp Racial Harmony Award.”
Each year, the FFEU benefit is led by its President Rabbi Marc Schneier, Simmons, who is the organization’s Chairman, and public relations executive Ken Sunshine, who is the organization’s Secretary. Past honorees have included Sean “Diddy Combs, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Janice Bryant Howroyd, CEO and Founder of ACT-1 Group, actress Rashida Jones and actor Jeffrey Wright.
Among the guests that evening included R&B superstar Usher, NBA legend Charles Oakley, comedian Affion Crockett, actor/singer O’Neal McKnight, actress Meagan Tandy, actress Rebecca Gayheart and television producer Norman Lear.
