Video Interview: Cast, Producers From TNT’s Hit Show “Claws” Discuss Debut Season

TNT’s “Claws” debuted this summer to rave reviews. Labeled by some as a cross between AMC’s “Breaking Bad” and Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black,” “Claws” chronicles the lives of five manicurists—Desna (Niecy Nash), Virginia (Karreuche Tran), Polly (Carrie Preston), Quiet Ann (Judy Reyes) and Jennifer (Jenn Lyon) — in Florida, who moonlight as money-launderers for an organized crime-associated drug clinic.

Human Nature spoke with cast members Judy Reyes and Karreuche Tran, and Executive Producer Janine Sherman Barrois, at the 2017 American Black Film Festival in Miami about the first season of Claws, which airs Sunday nights on TNT at 9 p.m EST. In the interview, they discuss the plot twists from Season 1 as well as the overall impact the movie is making in television.
