(VIDEO) Lena Waithe Talks “Boomerang,” “Twenties” on BET and What’s Next for Her Ascending Career
Lena Waithe is one the newer voices in Hollywood to bring fresh, modern content to film, TV and streaming services.
In less than five years, Waithe, 35, has won an Emmy, created and executive produced three shows (“The Chi,” “Boomerang” and Twenties”), appeared in a film directed by Steven Spielberg (“Ready Player One”) and written her first feature film, “Queen & Slim.”
She also recently made history by voicing the Disney’s first openly LGBTQ animated character in “Onward.”
Human Nature recently spoke with Waithe at the season 2 premiere of “Boomerang,” where she discussed “Boomerang,” the use of black women directors on the series, the reception she’s received for “Twenties” and what’s next on the horizon for her career.
