(PHOTOS) Spike Lee, Issa Rae, Quinta Brunson and More Honored at 2022 Ebony Power 100 Gala

Spike Lee, Quinta Brunson and Issa Rae were recently honored at the 2022 Ebony Power 100 Gala, which recognized leaders across a variety of industries, including entertainment, sports, business, sports, media and activism.

Held at Milk Studios in Hollywood, the Ebony Power 100 Gala brought out an exclusive group of celebrities to present awards and celebrate the accomplishments of some of the most accomplished African-Americans.

Hosted by comedian Amber Ruffin, the event also featured a number of special performances, including a melody by Tony Award-Winning actor, Myles Frost, of “Heartbreak Hotel”, “P.Y.T.” (Pretty Young Thing), and “Rock with You” from his portrayal of Michael Jackson in Broadway’s “MJ the Musical.” In addition Nigerian rapper Tobe Nwigwen performed several of his hit songs, including “Catfish Blackened w Grits”, and “Hella Black.”

Special recognition was given to several members of the Ebony Power 100 list, including Lee, who received the “Icon Award”; Rae, who was honored with the “People’s Choice Award”, and the cast of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” who were recognized with the “For The Culture Award.”

There were also several awards presented to people in the social justice movement.

“Insecure’s” Kendrick Sampson presented the mothers of Breona Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery, Tamika Palmer and Wanda Cooper-Jones with the “Social Justice Award.”

Several black business leaders were also recognized, including Target’s Senior Vice President of Marketing Maurice Cooper, who was honored with the “Corporate Citizen Award”, and McKissack & McKissack President and CEO Cheryl McKissack, who received the Black Business Award.

As typical with the Ebony Power 100 Gala, there were many stars in the building, including  Meagan Good, Shannon Thornton and Nicco Annan of P.Valley, Jabari Banks, Skyh Alvester Black and KJ Smith, John Clarence Stewart, Roger Guenveur Smith, Tiffany Cross, Da’Vinchi and Michole White from “BMF”, Malcolm Mays and more.
