Reality Show Featuring Lonzo Ball and Family Debuts on Facebook

Move over Kardashians, here come the Ball Family. The Chino Hills, California basketball family is featured in a new docu-series chronicling the lives of then-UCLA freshman sensation Lonzo Ball, the top draft pick of the Los Angeles Lakers; high school hoops stand-outs LiAngelo and LaMelo, and their parents Tina and LaVar, the outspoken patriarch of the family.

The 10-episode docu-series, which premieres today on Facebook’s Watch platform, follows the family as Lonzo prepares to go pro and the family works to build its Big Baller Brand into an apparel powerhouse.

In the trailer for the show, there are tense moments between LaVar and LaMelo, and a peek into Lonzo’s relationship with his girlfriend. The show, titled “Ball in the Family,” will also chronicle how the family dealt with their mom Tina’s stroke and her recovery process.

“Ball in the Family” will draw inevitable comparisons to the Kardashians, as the show is operated by Bunim-Murray Productions, producers of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” as well as the “The Real World” and other reality-TV shows.

“We wanted to give our fans an unfiltered look into our lives and show them a side of us that isn’t typically seen,” LaVar Ball said in a statement. “We have a big community of fans on Facebook, so we’re excited our series is going to be on Watch. And who better to help us tell our story than Bunim-Murray Productions.”

After the first two episodes premiere, new episodes will be available on Sundays, beginning Sept. 10. To view the episodes, visit the “Ball in the Family” Facebook page.

Facebook is banking that the popularity of the Ball family will help boost the launch of its Watch feature, with  “Ball in the Family”  being one of the first shows appearing on the platform.
